Tris issue in between object and edit mode

Hello Everyone,

Posting a message in the hope someone could help :blush:
I’m new to blender, I’m trying to make a wearable that won’t go above 1500 tris. When I’m in object mode, it indicates 41,098 tris and when I switch to edit it is below 1500 tris. How could i fix this so when I export it, it is no more than 1500tris

I guess you have an subdevision modifier on the object.
You have to delete this modifier or try to reduce it with a decimate or remesh modifier.
Also you can do a manuall retopologize.
