Here is my troll skin material. Could you give some tips how to make it look better?
No answers so maybe I will reformulate my question: does it look like kind of troll skin for you or maybe like something different?
Today my troll got brand-new stylish pants I have been trying to add many wrinkles to it using cloth simulation and tweaking the parameters, but with no luck. I tried setting Stiffness and Bending parameters to some low values but it didn’t bring the expected result. Is cloth simulation capable of doing such thing? Or should I go into sculpt mode?
I thought trolls were normally green.
A troll with pants. Hmmm
I don’t know where you want to go with it, but it can be good
Is his skin made of rock ?
Aren’t we here to imagine new things ?
It depends on where you live. For example, if you live in Moria you are not likely to meet a troll with green skin there
My intention wasn’t to make it look like made of rock. I wanted it to look like grey skin made of flesh If it really looks like a rock then I will have to fix it.
I can tell that there is a leathery sort of feel to the skin but I also have to admit when I first saw it I thought it was made of rock too. Maybe it’s just the color scheme or whatever texture was used to generate the different colors.
Guys, if you think that troll with pants was a strange thing then please, tell me what do you think about this, LOL
Recently I decided to start adding some environment to the render in order to create some history around it. Below you can see some proposals. Which do you prefer? Work in progress.
New update:
- changed composition to be more dynamic,
- added some hair,
- updated accordion material,
- updated lighting.
Next update:
- added mist
- the general mood of the scene is more “rainy”
After the render I done I think that the top-left corner of the image is too bright.
Y’know, I didn’t like this at first, but it’s growing on me. Having said that, it still looks very flat. Work on the lights to give it some ooomph.
EDIT: Your mist is flattening it. Why would there be mist underground?
Thanks for your opinion The point is that it is not meant to be underground - just usual pavement after rain. I added mist to enhance post-rain atmosphere. Do you think the scene looks better without it? Anyway I will work on unflattering it
Ok, I changed the conception slightly. You can see some parts of the render which are not so flat now Lighting to be improved.
I think a taller troll in hallway would look nice.
Thank you for the tip - I will give it a try
Next update:
- updated lighting
- water is refractive now
- one completely new element
I tired scaling troll up in order to make him taller but it didn’t composite well with road sign…
