Trouble installing script

Hi, for some reason a script I’m trying to install does not appear in the list of add-ons installed after I click “install from file”. No error is given, simply nothing happens when I click “install from file”. I’m pretty sure it’s not in the add-on list because I searched every keyword related to the script and still can’t find it, and also manually went through the entire list a few times.

What could possibly be the issue?

Also, I can’t find a script menu in Blender 2.7.4 to use that script after it’s installed.

It is not an addon
That is a script for a very old version of blender (2.47). It will not work in any blender after version 2.49b

Is it possible to make it work with newest Blender? I can’t find an updated version of that script. It’s basically a script that copies the weight from one vertex onto multiple others, instead of having to manually select 1 vertex at a time to paste onto.
