trouble joining NURBS

im trying to do the tutorial “fun with NURBS” on blender.org and when i get to the part where it says to join NURBS with ctrl j, it doesn’t fill in the gaps with mesh like its supposed to. it just makes them all one object and it looks exactly the same as before. any suggestions or tips would be usefull.

You need to use Surface Nurbs, not regular ones. After they’re joined, hit F.

edit: no wait, i was in object mode. problem solved,thanks
