Troubleshooting Object With Broken Origin Points

The tutorial I’m following along with.

All the objects on the left follow the keyboard shortcuts to grab [ g ] and then snap and move along a specified axis [ x y z ].

However, my cylinder when trying to use the shortcut to move along the z-axis, will move along the y-axis.

What am I doing wrong? The file’s attached in case it’s some kind of setting.

PS: I did google for this but could not find what I was looking for. Also, feel free to suggest beginner videos that would help me avoid and troubleshoot beginner errors such as this!

They have different local orientations, also you should change normaly to “Global” orientation.
You can make the local axis visible “Object properties” in “Viewport Display” with the “Axis Checkbox”.

Or you rotate origin axis to align to the global axis.

An object have also local orientation, they are needed for animation for example, you want a airplane travel along his local axis along the airplane direction.
