Trying to achieve a pitch black texture in some places of the model

Basically i want his eye sockets to be fully (or at least close to) pitch black even when lit, how can i achieve that?
I’m using substance painter for texturing

Might be worth a look into emission textures.

well, i tried that just now, substance painter doesn’t see black emission as an emission at all i suppose, it just doesn’t do anything basically

though i might be missing something, cuz i’ve only been working with substance painter for about 2 weeks

Okay, I was thinking of how outline materials are made and misspoke, sorry

Rather than using emission, you need to paint away Specular values - they control reflection of light. No specular, no reflections:

ty, i didn’t know that metal setting also affects this stuff :sob: :sob:

For when I want things like dark seams etc, I set color at 0,0,0 specular to zero (black) and roughness to 1 (white).

You could also play around with negative values in light sources

Place small point light in the eyes and set it to -5 for example

might try this too, even tho other person’s method kinda worked

ehhh, i don’t rlly wanna put any light sources in there, they might mess with the eyes since they r basically hanging in there
could still try it though
