Trying to do lip sync (sound wont play) 2.55

I imported an mp3 (I also tried the same file as a WAV) , checked the “audio Scrubbing” box in the “Playback” tab on the time line. Clicked “Caching” as well as making sure the clip was unmuted. I still don’t hear sound. Am I missing a step?

Nevermind. I found out that I had to go to the user preferences, and click “SDL” under the “Sound” option. I feel dumb now.

i feel worse when i read the first paragraph, spend half an hour figuring out how to do it, then read the second paragraph. Duh!
