Im trying to get help from someone that doesnt use blender for a community i go to amd they asked what is a lattice? I dont know how to explain what it is or excatly what it does can someone please define?? I tried the knowledge base with no luck thanks
A lattice is like a cage that you put around your object, that when adjusted, excersizes an influence over your object. So, if you adjust the lattice to be long and skinny, and come to a sharp peak, then your object will share these same properties. It will adjust to whatever shape you give to the lattice.
A lattice is a graphical way of defining a mapping on 3D space.

One advantage of using lattices for deformations, is that a lattice defined with a few points can influence (and deform) hundreds (or just a bunch) of vertices at once.

Maybe they are familiar with the term “deformation grid”?
