Hi all,
I have some shapes (objects) I transformed into another shape (with shape keys) and now I want them to randomly fly off, like if a gust of wind took them up and away. I have tried Force Fields but I am new to this part of blender. Can someone help or steer me in the direction of some good tutorials on this?
What did you check out for tutorials so far? What you want is a rigid body sim, so much is clear. Are you asking how to do that in general, or is there a specific issue with that in combination of using shape keys?
I have checked out various youtube videos but nothing quite exactly tries to do what I want to accomplish. Basically I want to have a group of spheres rise out of the ground and then float away off the platform.
I’m trying to create something like this.
I can change the shapes of the cubes to spheres with shape keys but then the “floating away” part is where I am having trouble. Again, it is my lack of understanding of Blender’s physics engine that is my issue so I guess I need to learn more about it.
Yeah, you can do it with a rigid body sim. There should be enough tutorials on the basics of it. And the basics should suffice for that. The floating away looks like basically inverting gravity and adding a force field to break the symmetry.
Or just try that:
enable Rigid Body in the Physics tab of the cube/ball objects
invert gravity in Scene->Gravity
run animation
add and tweak force field object(s) until the motion pattern looks to your liking.
