Trying to make rig particle follow a path

Hi folks!

Got a little question to ask.

Is it possible in Blender to make a particle system follow a path, i’m trying to make roman army follow a path, but i don’t have any idea how to make them take a turn. Im also looking for a way to randomise their animation a bit, maybe with displacement stuff ?

Hair particle :

It should be possible to do it with a curve guide and emitter particles with dynamic rotation enabled.

Rotation with hair particles is completely broken.
