Trying to sculp muscles

Hello there!!

I’m new here and obviously I want to learn blender and I have some doubts… I’ve just done an exercise following this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=jg-GUvYRHcU

And this is what I got; my first attempt to model a human body in blender.

Now I’d like to sculpt some muscles on it (which is not on the tutorial), but I change the mode to sculpt mode and try some of the options… and well is like nothing happens… only a little bit with the smooth brush… I don’t know if there is a “middle step” before starting sculpting or something… It doesn’t look like my computer crashes or anything… by the way my computer is a Mac OS X (version 10.6.8) 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 Mhz DDR3
I don’t know if scultping in blender is too much for it… What do you think?

Do you have any suggestion or more tutorials about how to model a human body and sculpt muscles to help me please?

Thank you in advance!!!

Blender sculpt mode does not work good with a subdivision surface modifier, that is certainly why it seems that nothing happen when you use the brushes.
Use a Multiresolution modifier instead if you want to control subdivision levels and sculpt.

A tutorial that could help you for sculpting muscles :

In Blender 2.66, sculpting has changed so that it’s possible to use dynamic topology. Definitely worth checking out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKuOIfNKz8g

Multires is still supported, who told you that? Dyntopo is just another choice, and I wouldn’t recommend it for a model that already has good topology at all unless you want to retopo again in the future, considering that Blender’s reprojection tools are unreliable at best.

It wasn’t supported in the dev version. I checked it again with the release version and corrected my comment but you must have read it before I did.

Thank you so much for your answers guys!!
