Greetings all,
Thought I posted this yesterday, created with Blender 2.77 with some color correction in Photoshop. I was going for a painterly look with bright, vibrant colors. Would welcome some critiques, always looking to improve.
It seems that you wanted to convey the feel of the intense sunny atmosphere of those places but it is evident that it came out too artificial. Really, in some Mediterranean coast places there is a marvelous all pervading sunny atmosphere which gives a very special identity to them, an atmosphere which is a challenge to the artists who want to convey it on the paper or the canvas… it is difficult to capture the delicate balance of the shadows and the intense light around. In this case of your try the balance has been lost in favor of the light and ambience… the whole picture is severely in need of shadows.
The modelling is quite good though, you may find a way of acquiring the mentioned balance… you have to experiment a lot with the shading and lighting of the scene.
Those are my thoughts at least… as someone who knows well the Mediterranean environments… : - )
I know Tuscany well. I think trying to get the brightness of the light you have sacrificed the tonal range far too much. It looks like a postcard image almost. This could be a great image but you need to recover the tonal range imho.
Thank you Fatesailor, yes, I guess I went overboard on the color correction. Here’s the image without so much colorizing…

Thank you Bunc! Appreciate your comments. Love your quote “Learning Blender - One mistake at a time.” So true!
Overall it is a nice scene to me and I like it, some parts are very convincing, some minor ones a bit less though.
If I may suggest, some greens are too much green, you can guess which ones; the clambering plants on the right side have a too repetitive pattern, while the ground is a bit too dark and lacks some variations.
Furthermore, the clay pots are too similar each other, they should be rather different in age and color, and more reddish overall.
Keep up the good work!

i like the first one too. reminds me somehow on van goghs style and colorscheme.
Hey! I really like the second one! Good job Robert!
Nice work man, I personally prefer the first version… As mentioned it looks slightly cartoonish, with a postcard feel to it. which i actually rather like
I just think it needs a little more work with regards to composition… to give a better contrast between low and high values. Some glare/over exposure from the white walls and other bright areas will help with the over exposed look you get in very sunny locations.
I did a bit of composition on photoshop to give you an idea of what i mean,
edit: you may also want to do something about the window next to the door (no.10 door) as it seems to be completely black, which i just dont think looks very realistic in a scene with this high level of intense lighting
