Tutorial Creator/Generator?

I wasn’t sure where to post this, I hope this forum is okay? If not, move it.

If you haven’t already, check out the site I just created (practically today). I still have some more stuff to put on it. I’ve just been basically working on server side stuff.

x-blender - http://blender.flynhighbmx.com *Note - I currently have it hosted on my other site’s server, it is just a subdomain off it.

So here is what I want to know. Tutorials can be a pain to make. I have been trying to figure out how this process could be made simpler and easier. Since I recently learned how to use PHP/MySQL effectively, I thought perhaps I could create some submission form that once you submit the tutorial text/pics/etc, the pages would (basically) be automatically generated. They would also be listed on a index page that would break each type of tutorial (function, modeling, texturing, animation, etc) into separate groups that then would be organized by date/blender version/etc. I would like to add several features such as search, editing (so things could stay up to date with new releases of blender), etc.

So what do you think? Would this be worth the effort? Would you and/or other people use it? Let me know what you think, I would like to start on it within the next few days, since I am off for Christmas break, so I can have it done by the New Year!!!

Thanks, have a great day (or evening if your on this side of the globe…)

Here is a screenshot of what would be part I of II.

You would enter you name, title of tut., brief description, etc.

Another update,
Part II, type in the tutorial, click the submit button and it’s posted!

Pretty easy, huh?

I can’t say another (yet another) CMS system thrills me.

With so many CMS and wiki systems out there I’d like to know what you are doing that is different.

I am very, very interested in what you are trying to do but am not convinced that you are taking the least effort/best result route.

I have over 15 years development experience (most of it web development) - I would like to help if I can.

Looks like a pretty good site. Good design, unfortunately not much content but I’m sure the content will be great too.

w0rd, if you need any help or…a completly differnt site design, just ask me

OMG, I didn’t even think of that… :expressionless: I really don’t want to step on people’s toes with this.

I guess we could work that out if I decide it will work.

I’m sending you a PM.

I’ve finished a tentative layout of what would be the blender tutorial index page. http://blender.flynhighbmx.com/page_index?type=tutorials&name=Tutorials

What do you guys think is better.

-Have the index contain all of the tutorials.

Or

-Have five of the newest tutorials in each group, and a link that will take you to a page that contains tutorials for that of which you selected.

Or

-Have just links to the different tutorial groups, the following page would contain all of the tutorials for that group.

What should we do?
