Tutorial on sprite optimizing for the iPhone

Not explicitly Blender-related, but I figure some of you would get a kick out of this. Prophetic Sky’s new iPhone game Spires is coming out soon, and we’re hoping to provide a good amount of insight into our development process over the next few weeks. Our code guru Nick wrote up a tutorial on sprite optimizing, which saved us a ton on device resources.

Nothing like shipping a game to feed your coffee habit

There are a series of additional articles coming out on our blog over the next couple weeks. I’m also look for requests for other articles. Oscar used Blender for our art pipeline, and is writing a couple articles already. We also used a variety of other open-source tools to complete our game. I used ImageMagick prolifically as an offline image-editing tool, and all of our custom software used QT to be cross platform - we run on windows, os x, and linux here.

So, if you’d like to hear about anything in specific, drop Oscar or me a note!

Just want to say thanks for this.

Thank you, this is very useful. I too am working on a graphics for a iphone game using Blender.

Cool man the tutorial. It helps make a lot of thing easier.
