This is a special demand I received. I personally find that the info in the Official doc on the subjects is pretty good but I get asked so often for some missing details that I did that quicky.
It shows how to build the profile (the one step missing most often for the beginner) using rotoscoping (it was so easy to cram it in there, I couldn’t resist )
and of course how to set the parameters.
I really like the way you present your tutorials. I find them easy to follow, and to see what takes place, as a result of certain actions. Looking forward to more of them in the future. I don’t know how difficult it is to make them, but it would be great if other tutorial makers, could also use your technique.
Using Wink, the no fee program I use ( found at http://www.debugmode.com ) is very easy.
That’s only part of making a good tutorial though.
Next comes the animation : fortunately it requires pretty much the same aptitudes as for making animations in Blender : a sense of storytelling, of beat, of punches. So it shouldn’t be a rare commodity among us.
The rest is daring to stick your head out and having enough maturity to empathise with the reader if we wish to find what are the elements that must be present in the tutorial for it to be of service.
These are great tutorials! I wanted to suggest that instead of using extrude to draw the profile you might use the CTRL+LMB to draw it. This is, I think, a less known command that is more fitted to this sort of editing. Of course the tutorial works great the way it is! Keep up the great work. Maybe one of these days I’lll get the tutorial I have been working done.
Indeed, ctrl+LMB is faster. I just like Extrude because I can leisurely watch the edge grow and position the vertex right where I like it best. I also tend to avoid giving all the alternate techniques (like mousing to a button vs shortcut for example) because it makes the tutorial confusing in the long run.
But you are right to point it out and I will show that technique as soon as I have the occasion in some upcoming tutorial.
Now, you must finish that tutorial : we need clear interesting account of important features.
It is writen. I have to proofread it though. I also had to split it in two parts : the second one will talk about the use of the Action window and sliders for RVKs.
