tv magazine opening

Hi,

just finished opening sequence for TV magazine about off the track wehicles and related sports events, all 3D is made in Blender, took like 1 day modelling and animating, then 1 day compositing in Discreet Combustion.

file is divx 5.04, about 4 megs

Man that is very cool. I’m impressed. Nice effects.

That looks excellent! Really nice sense of style and colours. We don’t see enough broadcast design on here these days. Well done!

awesome and excellent! no crits and good to see blender used commercially

Very really really good!
Just curios: couldn’t you do the Discreet Combustion compositing work straight by the Blender Sequencer (I ask this because I don’t know Discreet Combustion)?

Hi,

thanx for comments

i’m using Blender since one of the earliest SGI bulids, actually the first o2 compatible build, used to be quite active forums member, but as got older, i focused on work more  am using Blender for all my 3D needs my clients ask me to do, usually they just sit right down experiencing the speed of the process  , but as most of the work is under NDA’s i’m not publishing them nor have website at the moment…

timelapse modeling of one mobile phone can be seen here:

http://circus.kin.vslib.cz/~loop/blender/3650a.avi

is 17mb though

the usage of Combustion is based on two things, first, i bought the product, and then you tend to use tools you spent money on, and second, although i’m pretty aware of the sequencer (some of my earlier openings and animations were using extensivelly the sequencer capabilities), this project was easier to do by combustion than sequencer… just see the screenshot and you’ll see the complexity it needed

i only wish some compositing package went opensource

hope to get some more stuff to show here soon

Because for doing real compositing, comparing the Blender sequencer to Combustion is like comparing MS Paint to Photoshop

Vlk_, thanks for answer. Yes, actually your two reasons are good.

I see.
And does anybody know anything about Jahshaka?

It’s freeware and it looks promising, but I don’t really know how much good it is.

yeah, i know about jashaka. I also know a friend who had someone looking into jashaka and seeing if they can integrate that somehow with blender (i think thats what they were doing…i cant remember). I think they dropped the project…anyways, this was a like a year ago. Havent actually tried it myself. But I suppose that doesnt help you much, though, does it. :expressionless:

well, i tried jashaka like 4 months ago, and it was pretty useless :frowning: mostly just interface bits, loading images, not really functioning to alter the images… let’s hope d2software goes under and OSS’s the nuke

I can’t see anythink. Completely black/green screen in BSPlay/Windows Media Player :frowning:
What is Timelapse modelling?
Ten spot pobezi v Cesku v TV?

It’s one of my things that once I get a bit more spare time I’m going to start trying to add node based compositing to toohupuu (sp?). It will never get combustion’s paint effects, but the whole node thing should be done, hopefully opening up Blender’s render pipeline in the process.

I quite like it, although personally I’d like to see more contrast in the red/orange stage, maybe another colour for one of the objects or something.

It Doesn’t work… :frowning:

That’s very nice! I love the global effect and animation. The one thing that I don’t like as much as the rest is the “Good Year” on the tire. But that’s just a small detail.

Also, but you probably already know it, should check out CinePaint/FilmGIMP and Shake. The last isn’t free, but (in my opinion) far cooler than discreet combustion.

Keep up the great work!

Wow :D. That’s totally awesome! Love the firey look.

yeah, i know small probs… is updated and polished already…

regarding cinepaint/filmgimp - it’s for working with single frames, just supports film resolution and color modes and file formats… nothing like compositing there, regarding Shake - it’s more than 4 times the price of the combustion offering not much more than combustion (and now there is combustion3 announced!). So, in case you buy software, combustion is quite only solution in 1k area… as eg. after effects cost 2 times more to get the tracking tools (and discreet is master of tracking and color correction  ).

PS. new opening is in the works…

very nice work. thanks for posting the timelapse of modelling the cell-phone. I like seeing how other people work and learning from it. Regarding combustion: you’re right, there is no opensource project today that comes close, but I think Jashaka will get there- in a few years. Its got some semi-useable bits right now, I was able to do some simple stuff with it, but a lot of the functionality is still misssing it seems, plus it depends on openML for the final implementation, and this is a standard that has just been released.

I finally took the time to download that. Really good stuff, I’m glad I did. No crits.

Now that people mention it, the timelapse video doesn’t work for me either :frowning:
