TV Room: tips to push my scene even further

I’ve been working on this scene for a bit. Pretty happy about it, but looking for feedback so posting in this section. Loosely inspired by a random shot I saw in a tv show. Liked the idea of a messy, lived in, 90tys aesthetic. Right now the light is all coming from the HDRI, but I’m thinking to relight the whole scene manually.

The TV is a custom model, as VHS boxes, the radio in the background and the AD&D manual. Everything else is from blender kit.

Overall the scene is well made. I agree that you should re-light the scene manually, the lighting looks a bit flat. Also, you should make sure the lighting brings the viewer’s attention to the television. Right now, it’s one of the darker objects in the scene and my eyes tend to wander away from it and go to the brighter objects around it and to the background.

Something else I should mention is object placement and camera angle. Right now, the perspective on the shelves causes the major lines of the image to converge to the left like a giant arrow. This takes the viewer’s attention away from the television and makes it harder to focus on the image. If possible, you could try re-arranging the scene or trying other camera angles.

If you don’t wish to change how the scene is arranged, then maybe this could instead be improved by having the camera move slowly towards the TV and by the new lighting.

I like it, the final version has a nice lighting and just the right amount of detail.

Good job!
