tweak panel in 2,5

quote from Roland hess book page 98
Knife has another mode called midpoint. simply change the type setting in the tweak panel to midpoint.
okay… where did you hide it?
it is not clearly on the tools panel.

note to meddlers STOP messing with blender till we learn where things are now - and leave them there.

thanks
very frustrated

It’s at the bottom of the Tool shelf (T). You might need to press the + at the bottom of the Tool shelf if the tweak panel is not there.

Or press F6 after every action to make it pop up

thanks
but there is no + at the bottom of this tool shelf
and the f6 brings up a toggle edit question - i think
T makes the tool shelf pop up

Make sure you have the latest blender.

but there is no + at the bottom of this tool shelf

Then the tweak panel is already open.

and the f6 brings up a toggle edit question

Because all you did was go into edit mode. Use the Knife tool and then try again.

T makes the tool shelf pop up

yup

thanks
i have 2.5 which is what the book was written for.
maybe i should post a picture of the screen!

Blender 2.5 or 2.6 makes no difference, they are both the same.

here is the screen print
can somebody show me the +
i am beginning to see why people tell me they are staying with 2.49!
thanks

The thing to understand is that you change the operator options after you invoke the operator. The operator panel will show up after you’ve made the cut, and automatically adjust it after you change the type to midpoint.

thanks
i understand what it is supposed to do
see the Knife cut?
see the tweak box? well i don’t!
please explain

If you use shift k when you perform the knife cut you will get the mid point cut that you want.

John

Thanks - that worked
