Two images: The Old Ranger and The Bulb ;)

First is my firs work modelled in Blender. Rendering in PovRay. Textures made in Gimp.

Second is effect of my play with displacement mapping. All in Blender.

Your isp says you can’t use links. If you need I can put them on mine.

Email is [email protected] Gotta change my profile on these forums yet.

Maybe this will work, but it could slow:

Second set of links works fine.

The light bulb is modelled very well. Just needs some more poly’s. You can see some edges on the fixture. Either use subsurf’s or do a beauty smooth. Should solve that problem. The actual bulb is very well modelled. Good use of detail on the interior construction of it.

The Old Ranger is a great image. Very nicely modelled and textured. But why can you see through it? I can see the stars in the background through the ship. Was this also rendered in POV Ray?

Nice stuff.

There are no stars. This is underwater  This stars should be dust in the water. Image is rendered in Blender.
Thanks for your opinion.

if it was rendered in Blender, can you tell us how you got displacement mapping to work in blender? if I’m not mistaken, blender did not support disp mapping.

p.s. dust in water?? %|

I saw this function in tutorial. In blender this is called noise in edit tab. Try this:

  1. make UV sphere (100, 100)
  2. add material whith some image as texture.
  3. Press Tab and in edit tab press few times noise button.
    Should work.
As I see this work only in one axis then best idea is using this for terrain modelling.

ps. maybe not dust but plankton

I am very impressed with the bulb. The imperfections in the glass and the glow of the tungstun (sp) is exceptional.

Blend on.

if you used the povanim script please enlighten us on the use of bump maps – a few of us just can seemed to get them exported.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS BULB MAN

Bump maps are made in PovRay as normal maps. I have exported only basic walls without textures.
