Tyre Texturing using Bump Map concept

In the texture settings in the Map Image panel change from ‘Repeat’ to ‘Extend’ or ‘Clip’ so your normal map does not get tiled, since your UV unwrap extends beyond the full normal image tile space.

Also how do you do texturing and bumps in Blender 2.55 beta. Am terrible confused on that end
