Hi! I’m working on this fella here… tell me what you think!
Wow! That is not finished but WIP?
It’s really beautiful, especially the slightly comic look is cool. The hair is just awesome. Is the hat going to get some dirt on it? That would be nice.
Thanks! Yes, I might UV unwrap the hat and make some textures for it (right now it’s all procedural) even make a high poly version of it and sculpt it…
Nice, well done.
Wow, I like the eyes! Did you use a certain tutorial for those or come up with your own technique?
Thanks Soopursam: I’ve been doing eyes following the 2-mesh technique (don’t remember the first place I read about it. But I know I read about it, 'cause I try to avoid videotutorials. Don’t like them) 1 internal mesh for the diffuse maps and iris/retina, and 1 external transparent mesh for the specular/reflections.
The hard parte was making in Cycles what I’ve been doing in BI for years.
Very nice, and very ugly
This is nice! I love the eyebrows and nose area! I’d love to see some wetter areas. Like a little bit more saliva on the teeth, maybe some mucous dripping from the nose (not too much) Also, maybe some popped pimples with some puss on the nose. Also, dirty up the earings. Also, right now the earings look like a fully welded piece of chain. I wonder how he looped them onto his ear. Now, there could be a chain opening in the back, but right now it looks solid. Oh, and maybe make the hole bigger where his earing hangs. Like its been gauged a bit.
Wow, that surely is one ugly goblin! He does have some very lovely looking irises, though.
Very impressive for a project that is still a work-in-progress! I agree with Scotchtapeworm’s thoughts, some wet areas such as saliva or mucous could be a a nice touch. The hair particles look great, I think the hairs coming out of the ears is a terrific touch. The modeling/sculpting is very well done, I think the asymmetry is wonderful and adds a lot to the ugliness.
Really good work. Very nice.
Some glistening moistness along the gums would help, I think.
Yes, a fine example of UGLY! That hat material looks SO unpleasant! I would hate to wear underwear made of that. The colors are especially icky. I agree with previous posts about needing some slime, wetness in a few places. The earring hole - just a bit of looseness. Some sidelight or other way to make the nose hairs more visible - just subtly a bit more visible. No point going to the bother of growing hairs out of one’s nose, if no one else is going to notice!
OK. I think I’m gonna let it go now… I was trying to give it a upper body, but realized that’s not the way i wanted to do this in the beginning. This is just a head. Thank you all for your comments and advice.
Yikes! New depths of ugliness have been found. Excellent artistic work. Really has a sense of can-touch, sense of place, unpleasant repulsiveness. Not much to change, though I think the original hat material was just a bit more repulsive. But the drool makes the new render much worse (in a good way)!
Art isn’t just about beauty, but capturing the tactile/visual essence of something, the character of things/materials. You’ve done that well.
Out of morbid curiosity, what does his sister look like?
(I suspect I’ll regret seeing the answer.)
