Un petit escargo

Just a fun exercise in compositing,

Modeled in Clay, rendered in Blender and comped all together in Photoshop.

Cheers!

looks pretty cool to me. Kinda looks like the drool is going through its tounge.
Only question tho: when will clay be publicly available?

GREAT… really. it’s really inspiring to me, i think it’s first decent humoristic blender image i’ve seen, it’s great

5 golden monkeys (or whatever is used here to give to good works) for this

i’m going to save this one somewhere im my HD

great work, I can hardly tell it’s 3D graphics. I only have one crit: why is that tower on the right still standing?

BRAVOOOOOOOOO :o

Oh yeah, very ‘petit’ indeed…

Excellent compo! But why greyscale? Chicken!

that is frickin halarious! i love it!

wow! I love it. excellent excellent!

when you are doing something like this, do you render just the snail, and then in photoshop put it in a different layer, and use layer mask to put it behind some of the objects (buildings)… or… do you do that already somehow in blender?

.b

You could accomplish that in blender by simply texturing some planes and having the snail pass behind/infront of them. All you’d have to do is use Photoshop to slice the buildings out of the original image and save them individually with an alpha channel. Then slap them onto the planes in Blender. Does blender support transparent images as textures??? I’m pretty sure it does right?

Wooaah!

cool idea…looks so fun!

like Snailzilla ? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: LOL

My goodness!
Somebody help us!
Snailzilla is going to eat us all!!!

[Excellent composition work! ]

cooooooooooooool…

:Z :Z :Z :Z :Z /5

Ooooh

New wallpaper

Rogerm3d- There’s no drool, just the building behind him

aqa- Thanks for the kind words!

adyus-Thanks, and uhm yes…good point, he might be saving it as a snack for later ?

Joh@n-

Jamesk-Well not really chicken since the original photo was in b&w, altough im quite happy it is, it did make it alot easier

belac-

basse-Thanks, i rendered the snail in 3 seperate passes, 1 specular, 1 diffuse (basicly without highlights) and 1 with a reflectionmap of the town. Then i basicly starting cutting buildings out and putting them in seperate layers so the snail could be put between them.

Desoto-111-Yes indeed you could do it that way, you can also drive a car with your feet, that doesnt make it a good idea
Since its only for a still image the extra time it would take to recreate the city in blender would be silly, since i would finally end up doing alot of work in photoshop at the end again (Compositing in the dust and smoke / tweaking of levels and contrast)
But the main reason for doing it all in photoshop is that i can do all the tweaking in realtime without having to render the image over and over.

And yes blender does support transparency with the alpha channel.

Fred_Pyo-We can defend with a very large salt shaker!

pofo- and thank you too

petit, petit, c’est vite dit

funny as hell!

and very well done

Cool picture, good idea and very good composition.

why 3 separate passes?
ok, so, you arranged everything in photoshop then… that’s what I wanted to know, because I was (well did it already heh) doing the same thing… and I had a bit of a hard time seeing in blender what I am doing… (because the object rendered ofcourse on top of the photo) so I was wondering if I could somehow do it inside blender…
but… I used gimp, and put my 3d objects on new layers, and cut some parts from them using layer masks… works… just as well.

That’s very great !!
After Godzilla and Gamera… Escargokilla !!
