Unable to loop-select vertexes correctly :(

I’m new to Blender, but am learning fairly quickly. One thing is holding me up though; I read that ALT+Select will loop-select vertexes, but this does nothing for me.

I CAN loop-select edges & faces by using CTRL+ALT+Select, and this function works correctly, but when I try to do this with vertexes, it selects TWO loops of vertexes (instead of the desired single loop)

(I cannot upload images being a new user here, but hope my descriptions make sense)

I’m using Blender 2.55 Beta
Linux Ubuntu 10.10 (32 bit)
HP Pavilion dv5 Laptop

Thanks in advnce

Hi,

CTRL+ALT+Select performs a face loop select. ALT+Select is vertex loop select. I’m using Ubuntu 10.10 and Blender 2.55 and these work. You should check whether ALT-left click is set as a shortcut for something in Compiz using CompizConfig Settings Manager.

Thanks for replying

I checked, I have nothing mapped to ALT-Left Click in compiz (I even disabled all compiz stuff, to be sure, since I don’t use any destop effects anyway). This is baffling to me LOL

Edit: Well, LOL … I got it to work as it should … I decided to give up and just re-map “loop-select” to some other key combo, so I picked SHIFT+Select … then said “hmmm, I wonder …” … after seeing that SHIFT+Select worked, I reset it to ALT+Select and whadda ya know, it mysteriously worked!!

I am now a happy chappy; maybe someone else will stumble on this same situation and find the same solution

As I remember Alt-RMB is assigned to window menu in Compiz, so I had to remap it in Compiz setup.
Shift-Alt-RMB should work for loop and I used to do it before remapping.
I’m on 10.04 32.

Ctrl-Alt-RMB is for Ring select.
