Hello Blender Masters, I’ve figured out how to remove a material slot by pressing the “-” sign in the object material slots list. I even pressed the “x” sign to “unlink data block” I even “shift + Clicked to set all users to zero” before I removed the material slot.
But the selection of assigned faces from the removed material slot do not go away. Instead they seem to be getting added to the assigned faces associated with the next material slot that’s located just above the one I removed from the object material slots list.
Is there a way of deleting those leftover unwanted assigned faces along with the material slot?
also is it possible to go back and change the number of faces in the material slot once they have been assigned?
I’m a little confused about what your asking… I am going to assume that you do not want to delete faces from your model but that you want to delete materials from your model… If so… to the left of the Materal listing drop down menu you can select the material you want to get rid off… once selected you can 'shift select the ‘x’ to the far right of the material name… That still won’t get rid of the material emediately… for that you have to save your file then exit your file then load it in again… now you will no longer see that unwanted material…
Thank You norvman. Your feedback confirmed I was deleting the material from the Material listing drop down menu successfully.
As for the leftover selection of faces that had been assigned to the recently deleted material, I simply had to assign them back to the base mesh material color by selecting the “assign” button before pressing the “-” sign to remove the material slot. Then all was well.
I can now happily resume my Blenderella tuturial lessons.
Thanks again
