Uncheck "Overwrite" option does not work anymore

Hi Blenderers !

I am currently working on an animation, and as it takes time to render, i unchecked “Overwrite” in the output properties to spilt the render in several times when i am not using my computer. However, when i did the second part of my render, the render windows just shown a dark gray grid, and did not render anything. Checking “overwrite” solve the thing, but it renders from the very beginning…

It was working perfectly before. I didn’t use it since weeks, tho. I tried with a new project, same problem ; on eevee and cycles.

Which output format did you use?

.PNG, the basic one

For me it works, without “overwrite” it fills my gaps.
Check your output directory and delete the files you want to render, perhaps they are already there, maybe placeholders.

Check if you got this message in the status bar:
skip_message

BTW if you are on linux and using /tmp, be aware it might me cleared with every boot.

I changed the .png for .jpeg, it works. Yet, it starts back from the begining of the last frame, not where it exactly stopped to render. Better than nothing I guess. WHen the render"s over, i’ll try your solutions.
