Undo in sculpt mode is extremely slow on larger meshes

I’m sculpting a mesh with about 150k vertices. While sculpting itself works fine, the undo operation (CTRL+Z) takes a very long time (several seconds per undone modeling stroke). Currently this is not really usable, as sculpting (at least for me) involves lot of experimentation and thus a lot of undos.

It would be great if a blender 2.8 dev could look into this. I really like the changes to the sculpting tools in 2.8 overall.

Blender 2.8 is currently in beta and the devs are aware of the numerous performance issues which they aim to fix/improve for the stable release.
