Undo is suddenly very unpredictable

It seems like the undo history is insanely unstable in 2.93. On multiple computers, I will hit Ctrl+Z and it will undo something on a completely different object, or do nothing at all, or something completely different. It basically undoes everything EXCEPT the last operation I did. It’s really unpredictable.

Earlier today I hit undo and the whole file blew it’s way back to a state it was in like 10 minutes before. It wasn’t a single step back - I lost like half the work I did. And redo didn’t get it back.

This is happening on both Windows and Linux for me. Am I crazy? Or are other people seeing this too?

I have not but is it also in 3.0?

I haven’t tried because I use Blender in production at work, so I stick on the LTS releases for stability. At least, that’s the idea haha.

I’ve had this happen. If you immediately catch it your redos will still be there, but in you make one minor button push before noticing the redos are gone.

I had it happen maybe three times where it jumped all the way to the last load. The only way I noticed it happened was because I was keyframing and my character jumped to a completely different pose; it made me stop and check my undo history.

Can’t remember if I was working in 3.0 yet but I haven’t had it happen for a bit so it may have been 2.93.

On a side note:
Occasionally the viewport gets out of sync with undo. (Hit undo and the keyframe I added disappears but characters remain in same position)
I made a bug report a couple of years ago (2.83 maybe 2.86) and it got resolved, but it pops up every once in a while. You can get lost on your corrections pretty quickly when animating, when this happens.
