Uneven texturing on my model

I’m trying to add a cloth texture to my character’s pants. The upper section of the object takes the normal map fine, but the leg sections have a large, pixelized look to them. (See below.) The part of the legs that appear distorted are exactly the sections of the object which I extruded from the copied section of the actual character. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks.

Looks like you could possibly go in Object mode and Object> Apply>Scale to see if that helps. If you are using UV coordinates, then you need to unwrap the new extruded area.

Sometimes this works with me:
enter edit mode -> select all (A) -> under ‘Mesh Tools’ -> ‘Normals:’ -> press ‘Recalculate’ or ‘Flip Direction’.

If this doesn’t help you’ll probably need to check the UV projection or unwrap the object again.
