It’s been a long time since I’ve used Blender to make an animation, but my first ever attempt at one came out beautifully and I’d like to achieve the same effect for my up-coming one.
Basically, I’d like to create an animation of a series of differently configured boxes moving away from each other, unfolding, and coming together to meet each other and morph a little at various angles. I’d like to start off the animation with something like this:
with all these various cubes transforming and rotating. I’d like them eventually to touch the ground.
Then the end result after they’ve touched the ground should look a little something like this:
even down to the little antennae things popping up and the way some of the hidden flaps opened up to 45 degrees. Seeing as there are 11 different nets to make a cube, I don’t know whether I’d need to make every single net and fold them up and then unfold them when animating.
Is there any way to animate them without bones/armatures? I learned about “hooks” in the new version of Blender that one could use and animate vertices.
