unsmooth rotary animation

there used to be a way of smoothing motion.
how do i get these armature bones to beehave?

In the graph editor, i selected the Y Euler Rotation channel for the Cylinder.
I set the channel F-Curve extrapolation to linear.

look at the bones! they are all over the place!

dirty-stick’s change makes the ‘Cylinder’ rotate smoothly. You have given us no hint as to how you want the bones to move, and their F-curves are all over the place. What is the animation actually supposed to do?

In that case, you don’t want to animate the bones independently of the rotation, but to have them driven by it. Have a look at my piston tutorial.

does it work in 2.69?
as you see my 2.49 version does not.
