My first post here, I don’t believe this belongs in the Focused Critique section as it is not a serious work, and didn’t take a long time to make.
Anyway, I want to know what people think of this image I made in Blender. I saw Andrew Price’s tutorial on making an abstract background and was trying to recreate it without the tutorial (to challenge myself), but ended up with this and I thought it looked cool :D. I’m not fantastic at using Blender, and would like your feedback.
first, welcome to the site!
second - an interesting variation on his tutorial. getting the right balance with depth-of-field on this scene is difficult. even in the tutorial, he kind of gave up, and didn’t match the version he displays at the beginning. looks like you might have added some glare instead of going for the bokeh effect?
Yes, I did use glare, and in fact most of this image only looks good due to compositing. I had a brightness/contrast node, and three glare nodes (fog glow, ghosts and streaks (I’m pretty sure it was streaks anyway :P)).
Serious work in Focused Critique does not necessarily mean work that takes a long time to make. But it does mean that you are doing more than just trying out a feature (those go in Blender Tests.) If you have a vision for your finished work, and are willing to seriously entertain criticism and use it to improve the work, then Focused Critique would be the place to put your work.
If you are just looking for advice about how to make the next one better and have no plans to continue working on the posted work, then use Finished Projects or Blender Tests.
