Unwrapping a low poly hand?

Something tells me the answer to this is simple, but I’ve been on a hiatus from 3D modeling for years and now I’ve completely forgotten everything about it. I’ve been trying to unwrap this hand for hours but every attempt results in the UVs looking like a jumbled mess. I was hoping someone here could give me a suggestion on how I could get this properly unwrapped. Thanks in advance.

try turning your triangles into quads, that might help too

I just unwrapped it like that and this is how it looks:


Again, it’s been a while since I’ve dabbled in 3D of any kind, so I’m at a bit of a loss as to whether this looks acceptable or not.

Ah, I think I see how that could help. I’ll try recreating this hand using only quads and see how that fares.
