unwrapping problem

hey, im sorry if this isn’t in the right forum. im trying to unwrap one of my meshes but it comes out distorted and some parts of it shrinks what can i do to stop it? i tried pressing ‘u’ and all of its options…

Make sure that any object level scaling has been applied to the mesh.

Try both angle-based and conformal unwrapping methods.

Try putting seams where the distortion is greatest, not necessarily cutting the mesh into two, but allowing the unwrap to spread out in a less constrained fashion.

thanks MCollett :slight_smile: that fixed most of my problems but the ‘tip’ is still distorted one part its fine (the vertical) but the other is still bending and its making a swirling effect (left side) here he’s another pick only on the part this time. do you know what to do?


If you really want the lower edge to be straight, you will have to do that yourself. Select those vertices in the UV editor, 'S’cale them to zero in the Y direction and 'P’in them, then unwrap again.
