unwrapping question

If I have a model that will have several parts to it how should I unwrap it, all at once or a piece at a time? just wondering.


It depends on what you want to do with your model. If you want to use it in a game engine, you`ll probably want to use a single texture (and therefore, unwrapped as one piece), if it’s for rendering, you can unwrap in however many peices you want, but you’ll have to use a separate material for each pieces so they can each use their own UV image(not that much of a problem).
