Unwraps with huge distourion

Hi there,

I’m working on a projects and can’t get the attached file to unwrap without major flattening distortion.

I tested it and the bottom fan folded bottom edges are causing the problem, but I don’t know how to solve it :-?. It needs to be distortion free while still keeping all the geometry for a physical model. It needs to unfold like projected view (no distortion), but also including the bottom manifold edge.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Your geometry is really messed up - I assume you are planning to straighten that out aftr you make the UV map… Project from view worked perfectly for me with your file. There is very likely going to be some issue with the normals being flipped on so many of the faces if you are going to use normal shading or bump mapping.
