This is the beginings of my newest project. It’s an atempt at photo real. I plan to add more to the scene but this it so far, I wanted to get some crit. before I went much farther.
The valley down below could be quite a bit lighter, you might want to put something more in the scene (kayakers?) and the top of the cliffs looks strange…
You might want to put more bump in the cliffs too, they look pretty smooth.
The sun could use some lens flare or something, also you might want some kind of clouds instead of the gradient.
Other than that looking good.
Thank you, I will work on the cliff bump. I also have a plan to add more to the scene but this is my “backdrop”. Also that is the moon… not the sun… sun is over there ---->
ah.
I didn’t look at that too closely, usually scenes with the moon are night scenes…
You could make the moon brighter/bigger, then.
lol, in areas such as Texas (where I’m located) there are lots of opportunities to see the moon in a blue sky as the sun is setting, it is an interesting thing, but in those times the moon is not very bright. That is just what I have observed, if this is found to be a problem to anyone else please tell me.
But thank you very much for the feedback Venge, it is appritiated.
I’ve seen the moon in a blue sky
Also, I’ve used it before, and sculpt mode is friggin’ awesome for cliff faces.
You could add blend textures on the Z-axis and stretched cloud textures to simulate strata on the rocks if it’s supposed to be very large scale.
I have nothing to say about the moon in a blue sky, heck I’ve before seen the moon outside at noon here.
Lol, Thank you all. By the way I have to say I was astonished at the Moon Moth thing BlackBoe. I am not familiar with sculpt mode… :o but maybe I can learn more about it. I am updating the scene right now but I think I should get some more added before I update.
by the way the render does have some photoshop touch-ups but only for contrast, small tweeks, etc.
thank you all
Ok, this is a sort of up date. This is the rough model of a cross I wanted to either suspend or set on top of the bridge- like structure (?? Feedback on which position or another suggested position?)
I have updated the canyon scene but my render is making Blender crash, so I need to work some kinks out … But as soon as I do that I will post the update on the canyon. Meanwhile, thoughts on cross and cross location…??

:spin: I’ve been trying to figure out how to enter scult mode. I’m using 2.43 and I just need to figure out how to start sculpt mode. Since my renders crash blender I decided to try go with sculpt mode. Could someone help me with this?

W00! Wiki manual is your friend.
Ok, I’ve been messing around with the scene a bit and I think I have a composition down. I know the moon looks horrible but I am in the process of fixing that and a few small things. But I would love some feedback about how you guys think it’s looking.

Oh yes and thank you BlackBoe for following this post and helping me with sculpt. Although I did not use it for this since I had already made the cliffs I did learn to use sculpt and love it!!
I can’t see any of your picture. Is it just supposed to be a silhouette?
well yes and no… I’m just not too good at night lighting. Any pointers?
I dunno, I liked your first one, I could see stuff in it, at least. Maybe your monitor is calibrated too bright. What’re your gamma/brightness/contrast settings at?
well I see siloette too, I just thought it looked wierd when I applied any more light, I think I just don’t have the lighting set up like it should be for a night scene. And by the first one did you mean the light one? And if so what can I do with that? I like it but I just dont know what to do to make the daytime one better.
The daytime light setup looked fine to me, the high contrast didn’t bother me much, the only thing I thought needed to be worked on was the cliff face itself, and you’ve finished that, right?
Right, cliffs are done, I’ll post a render later of them in daylight. My problem though is how to make it intersting. I wanted to use that cross but if there are any other ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks for all your help Black Boe. lol, guess you’re the only one intersted in this. But hey, you got a pic in the gallery so I’m getiing so great advice.
Har, I wish. There are definitely people out there better at this than me. Anyway, you could still use the cross, and put it at the top of the cliff like it was before. Just move the camera up a little higher or something. Still though, it’s your picture, and I dunno what you’d want done with it.
