updated mundane corkscrew...

OK guys, I know I’m really bad w/ materials and yafray… Anyway, I tried it with this little guy (I may not see responses – if any – until Monday). Good week-end to all.
Now, I attempted to incorporate your remarks in this 2nd version:

I see very little to complain with the model itself, it looks great. I have similair myself, tough my verison has a opener for crowncorks too.

Well, only other crit I see now, is the lack of texturing. so Maybe this will do,

The thing is, most objects like that don’t have a lot of “texture”. The only thing I’d do is perhaps give the handle a material color and perhaps a little bit of noise thrown in there to give it the appearance of a plastic surface that isn’t completely flawless and impossible to acheive in reality (which some renders tend to do). Its awesome though…Yafray is amazing. I just downloaded it and hopefully this weekend I’ll get to mess with it a bit. But I agree with Hippie on the part about the model being good. There’s NOTHING wrong with that part. Just throw in a splash of color and give it some personality. Maybe make an environment for it or throw in a cork somewhere? Just ideas! Run with it! its cool stuff already!

the model is good, and it looks like you’ve tried to make it chrome. The problem with this is that there is nothing for it to reflect, so it doesn’t look chrome. Try putting something else in there just to make it look cooler.

Excellent modelling skills…

If you take a close look at it… it looks like a toy… :-? … or is it just me??? :expressionless:

Add some color, PLEASE!

Thanks for the feed-back. Yes, I tried it because those objects have little texture, (chrome was my goal), and it’s not there yet (the toy feel is definitely there)… I don’t know if it’s the environment, the choice of light (or…). I don’t know, don’t know squat… I’m at a very early stage of the Yable / Yafray learning curve (in one month, I probably spend the time some can find in an afternoon)… But I’m patient (have to), and I’ll try again. But experimenting w/ different parameters is sooo sloooooooooooowwwwww. Oh well…

Cheers /
