UPDATED with picture - Freestyle rendering question

I’m wondering if somebody can point me in the right direction.

What I’m looking to do is use Blender for building illustrations. The style I’m going for is a sort of comic book inked line style - so I’m only concerned with line weights. It’ll then be digitally painted in other software.

Essentially, I’m looking to do this (made in Illustrator)…notice how the lines are receeding as they move further away from the camera. I’ve been playing around with some settings in the Freestyle options, but I can’t seem to mimic this. Any suggestions?

Well, it looks like I was able to work through my quandary above. I can’t begin to describe exactly why this works, it just does. Here is my result. But if somebody could still explain the settings you see in the screenshot, I would greatly appreciate it. I just tinkered with the values until it produced the effect I needed, but I’d rather know what those values actually mean.
