Hello everybody, this is my first post here, I’m seeking for some urgent help, I’m not a blender user, I am a maya user and I’m in the middle of a project animating some characters for a game, my client purchased a model with some fbx animations included, the original file was created in blender and the pack that came with all the fbx animations and the clean model with no keyframes actually is wrong oriented so when I open the animation files they are ok but the file of the model alone is wrong oriented.
I downloaded blender and tried to export the files again to see if I can have it oriented correctly but everytime I try to export the model as fbx I get a series of errors. I tried exporting stuff from other scenes and everything worked fine.
If someone can give me some help I would really aprecciate it, I can email the model file to someone to see if the can export it without a problem, it might be that I am doing something wrong.
Thank so much in advance
Thanks Jay!..unfortunately I have read this before and also looked in every forum available for any similar threads…but no luck, as I said, I’m able to export anything else, other objects or models I found for free on the web but this one is giving me errors, what doesn’t make sense is that when it was purchased it came with many files already exported to fbx and with the original blender file from where it was exported…
I’m surprised there aren’t more definite responses to this, fbx was a hot topic not too long ago because apparently many people use it. Have you tried using this? http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/item?siteID=123112&id=10775855 (again I’m no expert, just trying to offer up some assistance) Maybe a collada export could work out better also.
I’m guessing the Blender animations may have been made with an earlier version. 2.61 animation data may not be compatible with older Blender versions and possibly vice versa. Try to find out which Blender version the original file is from, maybe you can fix it in that.
You can download older versions here:- http://download.blender.org/release/
