Use image as a texture

Ok I’m confused. I looked around for almost a half hour and can’t figure out what’s going on. I have Blender 2.49a with a simple object. I added a new material to it. I want to use an image as a texture, so I click the Texture tab and add a new texture. From that point shouldn’t there be some buttons…like Image etc? What am I missing here? (I’m sure it’s small and stupid, but am stuck)

Make sure you don’t have nodes seleted. Select the image using the button on the far right.

yup there’s just a drop down where you select image. Also don’t forget to change the “map input” in the material tab to UV if your using UV coordinates.
