After moving an object to a new layer, layer 2, then clicking layer 2, I cant find the object?
But if I go to the tree view ie outliner view, and click my object there, then I can see it in the second layer.

mabye cause you have not selected that layer for viewing in the 3D header layer buttons.or you thought you moved it to layer 2, but you really didnt. Which is pretty much the way all magic works; we THINK the magician did A, but he really did B. It’s called Deception. and just so you think I’m not sexist by referring to magicians as maie, let me say for the record that I think that Females are great at deception as well. In fact, better. Unless you think that is sexist too.In which case I will tell you that you press tilde (~) and it will appear, then select it, press M, and observe which layer you actually moved it to. Cause it aint 2.

But really. Right after I do the M and move it to layer 2 if I then click layer 2 its not there.
But if I go into the tree and click it there, I can see it in layer 2 from then on. Pouting, and in a tiny weak non-deceiving voice, “really.”
stop pouting and press tilde and do what I said above.
LOL. Yes, I did. I know that little tilde ~ trick. I just tried a test M to another layer and it worked fine. I think that happened when other strange things were happening on my machine.
I had to restart it and blender worked fine after that.
