This is a useless fact, but why on earth are there 1536 people who have registered on elYsiun and not posted, out of only 3532 registered users? What are they doing signing up and then not bothering?
that takes up probably, what, 500-1500kb?
LOL.
i’m giving around 300-1000 characters per profile, in sql data.
i asked this a while back and i was told that it was because of slashdot which i didn’t understand so i followed valarkings advice and used the google. which said it was some geek webzine but i still don’t really understand it
What Slashdot has to do with people registering in elYsiun… I wen’t there and saw now obivious “Join in every forum you see” add.
Would someone like to explain. Perhaps somebody, who felt, that after visiting slashdot you should register somewhere and never use your account?
The reason many people don’t post anything, is simply because they are lurkers
Some people just enjoy more just following the discussions than participating in them. I my self am a lurker in quite many newsgroups, mailinglists and webforums. And I’m not even always active poster to elYsiun either.
I enjoy adding my own opinions. That’s why I have, what, that-sideways-8 posts.
And if they want to go and read discussions, why not just READ it?
Does that mean that stalking people in real life is you hoppy?
But, really, you don’t need to be registerd user in many sites to be able to read the posts… I mean you can read posts at elYsiun withour registering as you can do in many other forums.
It still does not quite explain the registering part, unless it’s pshycology thing so, that when people register they feel that they are part of something.
I think that goes without saying.
it because bledner was mentioned as a great 3d open source do it all for 3d modeling/animation/gaming and this happeneds to be its community. techtv could also have some influence over this as it killed the old blender site one night and has continued to showcase blender here and there. im mean if you heard about it wouldnt you check it out? oh you are here!
Maybe 1536 people can’t remember there password or user name
lol…
i think that a lot of the people just registered and then never looked at the site aganiin, but there are also quite a few who just read the threads but do not actually post anything. I wonder how many active users there actually are…

i am actually one of those more readers than writers
there r many reasons, but i am no really active “artist” - nor a really good theoretical yet
so i read all threads i am interessted in and watch pics for inspiration…
registration is actually really handy, because of view posts since last visit
I post too much… so I seriously doubt that I am innactive, unless you count useful posts uh oh-
i think i fit the "lurker " defenition well - i just don’t like to post anything, i prephere the irc channels. i’m on gameblender every other day for the last year, and if someone askes a question ill be more than happy to help him, mainly because you can fix the whole problem at the same time insted of running into more errors and posting once more in a thread. and because people show more gratitude this way, and it’s good for the ego. yeah i know that if i’ll post in the forum it will stay for future reference, but hell … i’ll leave that to the blender-heads.

You can read the forums without registering, and if you really want to post something you can post it as a guest.
Pooba
You can only post as guest in the support forum.

just s thought…
when i first found blender i used truespace 3 se {ts3se}(2and a half years ago or so)
and found blender, messed around with it, found it impossible to use and left it lurking on my old computer.
it was only when i started a project and relized that bleder rendered waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay faster than ts3se that i went back to it and found its real power
maybe they thought they were in over their heads and gave up…but never came back…their loss %|
