Using 2.49b with imac - F10 button?

I have Blender 2.49b on an imac. To get the render page I am suppose to hit the f10 key, however this key controls the speaker vol. How do I get to the render menu on an imac if the f10 key doesnt function as on a pc…thanks

Also, if your keyboard has the fn (function) key, press it to force the function keys act as proper function keys.
