Using an Apple M1 Max for Blender

I am a professional designer, who does a lot of work in 3d and video, and I am currently searching for a laptop which enables me to work in Blender and Adobe CC at different places.

At first, I thought into the Alienware and Razer direction because I want something mobile which is not too heavy. I also took a look at the MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip and I aw some video comparing and Laptop with an RTX 3080 to an M1 Max and both were on the same level which would make the Mac more interesting because it is silent and has a way better battery life, Screen, Touchpad and so on. But weirdly as I did the same benchmark on my Desktop with an RTX 3070 my PC was 3 times faster. And now I don’t know what to believe.

It would be nice, if anyone with an M1 Max or Pro could tell me how it compares to an RTX GPU in Rendering.

Hi Magic-Mark,

I’d suggest looking at https://opendata.blender.org to see what comparative benchmark results look like. Hope this helps.

Cheers and happy blending
