This is really a question for people familiar with the book I’m reading.
I’m reading “Introducing character animation by Tony Mullen for blender 2.42” I have 2.49
I’ve gotten to page 154, chapter 4 armatures and rigging, and have over come the differences between 2.42 and 2.49 so far, but I’ve come across something that might be an issue. But I’m not sure.
On page 152 it says to make the hip bones by selecting the base of the spine bone, and hitting shift-E to extrude the hip bones, then disconnect them. But when I extrude from the base of the spine the hips are not the children on the base of the spine, but in the picture hips have that dotted line saying the hips are the children of the base of the spine. Now I cannot manually parent the hips to the base of the spine bone, but I can parent them to the spine, which points the dotted line to the tip if the spine bone.
does this matter? should I make the hips the child of the spine, or should I leave it be?
Also, can you think of any other conflicts I may encounter?
Thank you.
