Using Set Simulation Threads on OSX?

Hi All,

I noticed the official 2.65 for OSX comes with a script/app called set_simulation_threads. When I run it, nothing happens. I saw a post by Richard, in another thread, that shows some kind of dialog box associated with this app. Do I need extra software on the Mac to make set_simulation_threads com up? I get no error or warning when I launch it. If I were on Windows I would say this app behaves like a virus.

Right, everytime you klick it i get automatcally bucks from your bankaccount …

This btw. since last year ( 2.62 ? i forgot )

Alternately you can read the instructions: 1 Simulation performance adjustments

Thats Ok, it’s the holidays!

Thanks for posting that link, I had not seen it before. Also, the problem is that the set_simulations_thread app just crashes, it does not bring up a simple little box as shown in the link you posted. So there is some underlying software that must be required for the set_simulations_thread app to function. That seems to be what is missing from the official distribution.

The Mac I am running this on is basically a corporate Adobe/Office machine running 10.6.8. So there is plenty of default software installed.

But for the Blender Foundation to publish an ‘official’ app that just crashes on launch seems kind of lame.

I looks like the script is looking for a app named “blender.app”. If like me you have named it something like blender 2.65.app you’ll get an error. Either change the name of the blender.app or you can adjust the script.

First time I ran it I also got a “error of type -10660” error. If you get that error empty your trash as it thinks the object is in the trash, presumably from an old deleted blender install
