Using widescreen laptop

Hi I have just loaded Blender on my laptop which has a wide screen display. The resulting grid is distorted and any object I make looks stretched. I know the underlying measurements are correct and it will not be stretched when I export it to the game.

How do I alter the display of the grid to make it look square. Changing the size of the window on the desktop does not alter the grid appearence neither does changing the shape of the view. I have tried different screen aspect ratios as well, currently at 1400 x 1050, but that does not seem to have any effect either.

Thanks for any help

I would guess that probably is the screen resolution.

Find out the size and ratio of the screen and you will know the most appropriate resolution to use. For example if it is 16:10 try 1440 x 900

If it isn’t the screen resolution then I don’t know, maybe the graphics display? Though I haven’t heard that problems with drivers can cause that.

What is the make and model of the laptop?

Hi

It is an Acer Aspire 8935G T6500 4GB
Uses a ATI HD4670

It is just that if I draw a circle on the screen it looks like an elipse.

Thanks for replying

The native resolution seems to be 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (16:9 - 1080p)

Wow that was quick. Shows you should aways read the manual
Never worked at that resolution before. It is fine detail on the screen now.

Thanks for that
