UV and mapping

I unwrap a part of a part of my machine model in UV window. Then Hit Texface. Cool ! So what is the UV button in Map Input For. cause I get no control over the material/texture applied to my UV here? Im trying to use color and normals .

‘TexFace’ overrides the usual mapping controls. It’s a ‘quick & dirty’ method for basic texturing, but if you want to do anything more complex (e.g. normal mapping), you need to turn it off.

I did, I turned it off. I used to know how to make a normal map or was it bump map, the blue maps but that was long ago . any way all I need is to get the nor button to work .
I turn off tex face click the UV in map input all I get is white.

I can put both the normal and the color map in the UV image editor, I didn’t want to make the normal maps, and how do I adjust the color and normal together? Humm? If there is a easy way Id like to know it. I like to do it in map input but it puts the texture on the hole object. i only want it on part
