UV keeps mirroring the texture

How do i stop the UV mirroring the texture?

I created a seam around a door, and want to apply a door texture, but annoying - it mirrors it on the faces next to it so it looks well strange!

I made the house with a mirror modifier and clicked apply before i started doing the UV.

How do i stop it happening for this particular texture?

model the door seperate w/o mirror modifier

you need to apply the mirror modifier before you UV unwrap/map, or your UV coords will be identical on the mirrored half, to the original half. sometimes this can be helpful, sometimes it isn’t.
