3Ds Max can replace an entire UV layout of an exact object via import UV. Blender has export UV layout function, but I can’t find import UV layout function. Can it be done in Blender?
Export UV layout takes a snapshot of the layout in image form, which can be used as a guide when texturing in an external application. The UV map itself stays in Blender.
UV map is a 2D representation of the 3D coordinates of the mesh, and the two go hand in hand both inside Blender, and when exporting. Getting UV’s from one object to another goes with linking (copying) them if they’re the same in geometry, or data transfer if they’re not.
